Can India clinch Asia Cup 2025 with sloppy fielding & no solid finisher? A deep dive into their chances & challenges!

Lack of a Finisher and Catching Problems Could Haunt Team India in the Coming Days!  In the Asia Cup 2025, two weaknesses in Team India,  first the absence of a reliable finisher and poor catching  have raised concerns among cricket fans.

Poor Catching Problem:

Today, against Bangladesh, Indian players were seen dropping very easy catches. Although Team India managed to win the match but consistently dropping simple catches is a worrying sign for any top team in international cricket. In important matches, even one such mistake can be enough to cost the team heavily. Also in the previous match against Pakistan, players dropped several easy catches. It's not just this Asia Cup, in recent series too, catching has re-emerged as a major issue for Team India.

Cricket fans are blaming both the players and the fielding coach for the poor catching performances of team India. Fielding coach T. Dilip is facing heavy criticism from fans. Good judgment is crucial when it comes to taking boundary line and high catches. The way players are currently dropping catches, it seems like judging the ball in the air has become a genuine problem for them. Hopefully, the team management will soon find a solution to this issue.

Strong Finish Problem:

If we talk about explosive finishing in the death overs, Team India is also seen struggling a bit in that area. At the top of the order, Abhishek's explosive innings and the spinners' strong performance during the middle overs are helping the team win matches to a large extent. However, when it comes to finishing, the team looks slightly weak.

Hardik Pandya needs a balanced finisher to support him. The word balanced is used here because a finisher must be capable in both aspects: stabilizing the innings if the top and middle order collapse early, and playing explosive shots at the end to give the team a strong finish. Currently, in the playing XI India is fielding in the Asia Cup, this issue is clearly visible. In the Asia Cup , the pitches offering some assistance to bowlers could be one reason why the finishing hasn’t been up to the mark but relying solely on flat tracks for explosive batting does not suit a team ranked number one in T20s.

Shivam Dube is a very good option in the middle order against spinners, but he still needs more time to settle into the finisher's role. That’s why, along with Hardik, Team India needs a proper finisher as soon as possible. The team management needs to resolve the finishing issue in the death overs soon, especially with important matches and upcoming series on the horizon.

For your kind information, Team India has secured a place in the Asia Cup final by defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs.

Thank You.
