 Odisha Vigilance Crackdown: 199 Govt Employees Caught in 15 Months

199 govt Employees caught red-handed in Odisha vigilance raids, ₹202 cr worth assets seized.

According to the report of the Odisha Government, in the last 15 months, 199 government employees have been caught red-handed by the Vigilance Department. During this period, the Vigilance has also registered 77 disproportionate assets (DA) cases. Similarly, a total of 122 cases have been registered on charges of taking bribes. Assets worth ₹202 crore have been seized as disproportionate to known sources of income.

Vigilance Raids Reveal Gold, Cash, Flats, and Farmhouses.

In the past five years, while 3,661 corruption cases are under trial in different courts, as many as 722 cases are under investigation. From July 1, 2024, till date, the State Vigilance Department has conducted raids on the houses of 77 government officials. The seized disproportionate assets include:

218 flats

₹8.38 crore in cash

775 plots

25 kg 553 grams of gold ornaments

13 farmhouses

₹44.21 crore in bank deposits

₹43.02 crore in insurance amounts

In total, chargesheets have been filed against 785 persons, out of which 170 have been convicted.

Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi presented this information in a written reply in the State Assembly.
