IPL history.
2. As per different sources, Aryaman Birla is the new Chairman of
RCB. He is the son of Kumar Mangalam Birla, the chairman of the Aditya Birla
Group. Aryaman has previously played domestic cricket for Madhya Pradesh and
was also selected as a player for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 Indian
Premier League.
3. Kane Williamson has joined LSG as a strategic advisor for the
2026 IPL season.
4. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have decided to retire jersey
number 12 in honor of the legacy of Andre Russell. This means that no player in
the KKR team will be allowed to wear the number 12 jersey anymore.
5. KKR has appointed Rinku Singh as the vice-captain for IPL 2026.
As last year, Ajinkya Rahane will continue to lead KKR as captain this season.
6. According to some reports, KL Rahul may open the innings for
Delhi Capitals this time.
7. Despite commanding a higher salary in the PSL, Australian left
arm pacer Spencer Johnson opted to leave the league and join Chennai Super
Kings in the IPL, stepping in as a replacement for Dwaine Ellis.
8. Ball‑Change Rules in IPL 2026
i) In the second innings of an IPL match,
the fielding team captain is allowed to request a ball change once after the
completion of the 10th over, especially if there is dew or the ball is
difficult to grip.
ii) Umpires have the authority to change
the ball at any time during the match if they feel the current ball is too wet,
out of shape, damaged or otherwise unsuitable for fair play.
iii) If the bowling captain requests a
ball change due to wetness or maintenance issues after the 10th over, the
umpires are expected to mandatorily replace the ball with another one of
equivalent wear and tear.
iv) After the first mandatory change
(e.g., for dew), the fielding captain may request additional ball changes later
in the innings but it is then up to the
umpires to decide whether to allow that request.
9. Today in Mumbai, all 10 team captains
of IPL 2026 have gathered for a photoshoot and other IPL related activities.
